Leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) had a goal: to determine the correlative factors of diverse casting, diverse audiences, and box office success and its implications on the business case for diversity in motion picture programming. And after analyzing three years of data from comScore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak, Gracenote’s Studio System, and the MPAA, it did – including the revelation that films with diverse casts drove significantly more revenue than those without. Join this session to learn how CAA drove those insights and built its own database, with dramatic results for clients, the business, and the industry alike.


André Vargas

André Vargas is an Information Technology Executive at leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Vargas is based in the Los Angeles office, where he is responsible for corporate systems and delivering Business Analytics services across the organization. He provides services centered around the user, including tailored, pragmatic, visual, and actionable, in alignment with CAA's culture.

Vargas began his career in management consulting in the Information Systems Implementation practice at PA Consulting Group, where he was part of the Program Management Team and lead BI & Analytics in North America. He joined CAA in 2011.

Vargas graduated from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark with a MSc degree in Economics.


Christy Haubegger

Christy Haubegger is an Agent at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a leading entertainment and sports agency with offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, Nashville, and Beijing, where she provides insights on diverse markets to the agency's clients and buyers. She is based in the Los Angeles office, and works closely with such clients as Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Andy Garcia, and America Ferrera, among others. She also leads the agency's initiatives to diversify the entertainment marketplace by using proprietary data tools and analysis to make the business case for inclusion.

Haubegger founded Latina magazine in 1996, upon graduating from Stanford Law School. It was in a business course there that Haubegger conceived of and developed a business strategy for a ground-breaking magazine that would showcase fashion, beauty, lifestyle and empowerment for Hispanic women. After receiving her law degree, she pursued her plan for the magazine, before ultimately partnering with Essence Communications, who became a major investor in Latina. The magazine debuted as a quarterly in 1996, with rising star Jennifer Lopez on its first cover. Latina grew to monthly publication just a year after its launch with Haubegger serving as its publisher, president, and then CEO until 2001. In that post, she oversaw a staff of more than 50 people and focused on the business management of the magazine, including advertising sales and corporate marketing.

Since its inception, Latina has become the leading publication for U.S. Hispanic women with a monthly circulation of 500,000. Latina has been named Best Magazine by Advertising Age and was featured on the Adweek Hot List two years in a row (2000 and 2001). Latina has also extended its brand into other media. In 2001, Haubegger oversaw the launch of the website www.latina.com and the publication of LATIN BEAUTY (Hyperion), a comprehensive beauty and wellness guidebook for Hispanic women. Haubegger now serves as a member of the Board of Latina Media Ventures (Latina's parent company) where she focuses on strategic initiatives for the company.

Hoping to expand the presence and stories of Latinos in television and motion pictures as she had done in the magazine world, Haubegger moved into the world of entertainment. She served as Associate Producer on CHASING PAPI, a romantic comedy from 20th Century Fox with a Hispanic theme/cast, which was released in May 2003, and was Executive Producer of Oscar-winner James L. Brooks' romantic comedy, SPANGLISH, starring Paz Vega, Adam Sandler, and Téa Leoni, released by Columbia Pictures in December 2004. She joined CAA in 2005.

A pioneer for Latinas, Haubegger is the recipient of numerous awards and media recognition for her achievements. In 2001, Newsweek named her one of the "Women of the New Century," Advertising Age has called her a "Woman to Watch," and the Ms. Foundation has chosen her as one of the Top Ten Role Models of the Year. In 2002, Haubegger was also the youngest woman to be inducted into the American Advertising Federation's Advertising Hall of Achievement, in recognition of her success in raising the profile of the Hispanic market. She has been profiled and interviewed by numerous, diverse media outlets including CNN, NBC Nightly News, and TODAY. Recently, The Hollywood Reporter featured her on its list of the Most Powerful Latinos in Hollywood.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Haubegger is the Mexican-American daughter of adoptive parents. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from Stanford Law School where she was elected president of her class. Haubegger is a board member of Management Leadership for Tomorrow (ww.ml4t.org), an organization that works to increase the number of minority MBA candidates at the nation's top business schools. In 2009, she was appointed by President Obama to the President's Commission on White House Fellows. She serves on the Board of Directors of women's retailer New York & Co. (NYSE: NWY). In addition, she is a volunteer for various civic, social and political organizations.


Richard Eilbeck

Richard Eilbeck is a Business Analytics Executive at leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Richard is based in the Los Angeles office, where he is responsible for delivering analytics capabilities and data-driven insights across the organization. His work focuses on providing agents with the most impactful data and compelling insights to best-serve clients.

Richard began his career in management consulting, working in the Business Modelling Group at KPMG, and then the Decision Sciences Practice at PA Consulting Group. He joined CAA in 2012.

Richard graduated from Lancaster University, United Kingdom with a MSc degree in Operations Research.
